In our lifetime, we all want to be heroes, save the world, and do our bit for humanity. However, we can’t always find the time or the millions to do so. Making a difference can be quite simple though.
The University of KwaZulu-Natal, in partnership with DKMS and The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) invites you to the UKZN Shavathon and/or to become a blood stem cell donor and save someone’s life! This simple act of selflessness will give hope of life to patients diagnosed with cancer.
The dates for the Shavathon and Blood Cell Donor drive are as follows:
3 October – Upper Quad, Howard College Campus
9 October – Library Lawns, Pietermaritzburg Campus
10 October – Area outside Student Union, Edgewood Campus
12 October – Quad, Westville Campus
Time : 10h00-14h00
If you are interested in becoming a blood stem cell donor you must be:
· between 18 and 45 years old
· willing to help anyone who requires a blood stem cell transplant
· weigh over 50kg and lead a healthy lifestyle
NB – ALL potential donors MUST NOT EAT (including sweets and gum), drink or smoke an hour before registration.
Please support the Shavathon where you will be able to shave off or colour your hair in support of Cancer patients. The cost for the Shavathon is R20.00 which will go to the CANSA Association.
Please take note of the date when the drive will be coming to your campus.
We look forward to making a difference in the lives of those who need it the most. Please join us and help us save lives!
