A performing arts presentation hosted by the UKZN South African Sign Language users
To honour Deaf Culture, and raise awareness about social inclusion and
communication barriers, the Deaf students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal
will be hosting a performing arts presentation for the University community.
The event will be held at the Howard College Theatre on 27
September 2024, from 11h00-13h00.
The event is also a collaborative effort with the University Language
Planning and Development Office (ULPDO) being held in commemoration of Deaf
Awareness Month (September). The 4 core values of Deaf Culture namely: identity
formation; self-determination; information sharing; and full access to
communication, will be showcased through story-telling, music, dance, and
poetry.
