The College of Law and Management Studies proudly celebrates the academic achievements of UKZN staff members who graduated during the 2025 Autumn Graduation ceremonies. Their commitment to lifelong learning and professional development equips them to contribute more meaningfully to the University and society.

From strategic business insight to leadership and marketing expertise, these graduates’ stories reflect ambition, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence. They shared reflections on their achievements:

Master of Commerce in Management
Ms Nosisekelo Gabela, Finance Administrator at the University Teaching and Learning Office

‘I was motivated to pursue a Master of Commerce because I wanted to deepen my understanding of business strategy, finance, and analytics, and position myself for more strategic roles in the corporate world. During my undergraduate studies and early work experience, I realised that to make a real impact in business decision-making. I needed a stronger foundation in both theoretical frameworks and practical tools. This degree offers the opportunity to refine my analytical skills, and expand my knowledge across different areas of commerce. It was an investment in my long-term growth – both personally and professionally.’

Masters in Human Resource Management
Mr Nhlakanipho Muthwa, Human Resource Development Officer – Human Resources Professional Services

‘This qualification is relevant to my current job as a Human Resource Development Officer, the field of Human Resource Management has become highly competitive. My goal in completing this degree was to expand my knowledge in the field and position myself for career growth opportunities.’

Dr Andrisha Beharry, Senior Lecturer – School of Commerce

‘I pursued this qualification to strengthen my ability to lead with confidence and clarity in today’s fast-changing work environment. I’ve come to realise that leadership isn’t just about managing – it’s about inspiring others, driving meaningful change, and making strategic decisions that support both people and organisational goals. As a Senior Lecturer at the new School of Commerce, this qualification has deepened my understanding of leadership theory, sharpened my problem-solving and communication skills, and given me practical tools I use every day. It also positions me to take on more senior leadership roles within the academic environment. I truly believe in lifelong learning, and this has been an important step in my journey.’

Ms Premilla Chetty, Head of Registrar – Committee Office

‘The PG Dip in Leadership qualification was one of the stepping stones to the MBA programme. I am currently in the first year of my MBA and I’m aiming to achieve the qualification with distinction. The MBA will open doors to various leadership opportunities and more senior roles. It’s still early days – perhaps I’ll be inspired to pursue a doctoral qualification next.

‘The qualification was truly impactful. It sharpened my communication skills, enhanced my professional approach, and prepared me well for the MBA. I gained both personal and professional growth – something I wish I had done much earlier.’

‘I pursued this qualification to strengthen my leadership, strategic thinking, and business management skills. Coming from an administrative field, I recognised the importance of understanding core management principles to be more effective in a dynamic and competitive work environment. Ultimately, this qualification was a strategic step toward personal development and career advancement, it reflects my commitment to continuous learning and positioning myself for future leadership roles.

‘I am truly grateful for the opportunity to pursue my diploma, and I acknowledge the Lord’s presence every step of the way. His guidance and provision gave me the strength to persevere and complete my studies. All glory to God!’

Mr Msizi Dimba, School Liaison Officer – Corporate Relations Division

‘Coming from a humble background – my father a taxi driver and my mother a domestic worker – I grew up in a challenging environment that instilled in me a deep appreciation for education. Their hard work and sacrifices have always motivated me to further my studies, not only for my personal growth but to make them proud.

‘This qualification has been incredibly relevant to my role, where I actively promote the University to schools, government departments, and other stakeholders. The marketing component enhanced my ability to engage effectively with different audiences, while the supply chain aspect has been invaluable in managing payments, orders, and requisitions.’
