Lecturer Represents South Africa at World Congress on Cochlear Implants
Lecturer in Audiology at UKZN Dr Zandile Blose represented South Africa as a panellist at the 7th World Congress on Cochlear Implants in Emerging Nations in Istanbul, Turkey.
Initiated by Professor Levent Sennaroglu, the current president of the Global Cochlear Implant Access Network, this prestigious event served as a platform to address the challenges faced in the field of cochlear implantation in emerging nations.
Blose noted that many of these countries are currently developing guidelines for cochlear implantation. Consequently, six experts from South Africa that are dedicated to its advancement received invitations.
She was part of the panel on Vestibular Evaluation Before and After Cochlear Implantations that included renowned expert Professor Sylvette Wiener Vacher who is based at the Unite de Vestibulometrie de l’Enfant, Hopital Robert Debre in, Paris, France.
Blose, who co-ordinates the KwaZulu-Natal Auditory Implant Programme, said that her involvement in the congress not only enhanced her expertise, but also opened doors for potential future collaborations.
