Dear Graduating Class of 2020

I am pleased to announce that UKZN will be hosting a virtual Graduation Ceremony on Friday, 29 May 2020 at 13h30.

In these difficult times a virtual graduation ceremony allows us to honour your academic achievements as well as provide you and your loved ones with a graduation experience. To this end the University has partnered with the SABC to broadcast the ceremony live on SABC 3, Channel 193. Graduation will also be live streamed and a link will be communicated in due course.

We intend to make this virtual ceremony every bit as rich and meaningful as possible. The ceremony will take the following format: the Vice-Chancellor will deliver a speech and confer degrees on all students who have qualified. Deputy Vice-Chancellors will convey congratulatory messages.

The University will be posting information regarding the distribution of your graduation certificate and academic record.  An e-Certificate Solution has been procured, and once the necessary set-up and testing has been finalised, we will be in a position to distribute the items to eligible candidates.

If you have any questions related to the 2020 Graduation Ceremony please contact the Graduation Office via email

We are currently compiling the relevant information, programmes and messages which will be uploaded to our website details of which will go live on Friday 29 May 2020 at 12h00

We look forward to sharing these graduation experiences with you. I hope that this once-in-a-lifetime moment will be a twice-in-a-lifetime one.
