UKZN Gears Up for Staff Survey, Employees Encouraged to Participate
In an attempt to improve staff working conditions and foster open communication at the University, the Human Resources Division (HRD) calls on all staff to participate in the Employee Engagement Survey (EES) which will take place from 9 to 23 October 2023.
The aim of the EES is to solicit employees’ views and opinions on their level of engagement, commitment and morale and the extent to which they embrace UKZN’s values across the Institution to work together to deliver on the recently launched Strategic Plan (2023-2032).
The survey, held in partnership with the Corporate Relations Division, is available in both English and isiZulu and can be completed online and manually. Drop-off boxes for completed questionnaires will be located at different points on all campuses.
The Interim Officer in Charge of HR, Mr Mokgase Masemola reassured staff that the University is committed to upholding its ethical research standards; therefore, their participation in the survey will remain confidential and anonymous, as no identifying data will be collected. The data will be processed in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013.
‘Participating in the survey is an opportunity for staff to make their voices heard without fear or favour. Their opinions and views will help to improve management’s decision making,’ said Mokgase.
Project co-ordinators, Drs Manoshni Perumal and Michael Cloete under the directorship of Ms Lebogang Molefe, encouraged staff to participate as this will not only assist in measuring overall employee engagement levels, but also identify key drivers of engagement and areas of concern and gather feedback on communication, leadership, and the work-life balance. They added that participation in the survey is optional.
Staff should approach their HR Consultant or line manager for more information and queries on the EES.
