Open Day 2019

The University of KwaZulu-Natal will host its annual Open Day 2019 event on consecutive Saturdays on May 4 and 11.

During these events, the University will open its doors to thousands of pupils from around KZN as well as neighbouring provinces. The open day platform affords students and parents the opportunity to learn about the vast study options available at UKZN.

The 2019 UKZN Open Day will be held as follows:

Pietermaritzburg campus

  • Date: Saturday, 4 May 2019
  • Venue: Main Campus Library
  • Time: 9h00 – 13h00

Westville Campus

  • Date: Saturday, 11 May 2019
  • Venue: Sports Centre
  • Time: 9h00 – 13h00

The event is open to pupils, teachers, subject counsellors as well as members of the public who are interested to learn more about study options at UKZN.

This year, no less than 4000 people are expected to attend these respective events.

Apart from information pertaining to academic courses as well as teaching and learning at UKZN, pupils will also get a taste of campus life and be guided on other aspects of higher education through various interactions with staff from the University’s Schools/Disciplines. Importantly, UKZN’s Student Services as well as the National Student Financial Aid Service (NSFAS), South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), and the full host of institutional and private bursaries will also available at both events.

In a bid to ensure that prospective students make the best possible choices when it comes to their post-matric academic studies, all interactions on the day will be on a one-to-one basis with Schools/ Disciplines from UKZN as well as organisations from outside the institution.   

Activities on the day will include:

  • Formal presentations and talks;
  • Exhibition displays by different departments and institutions within and external to UKZN;
  • Information on how to access financial assistance;
  • One-on-one interaction with different UKZN staff and students;

Gagasi FM- which is one of UKZN’s important media partners- will be broadcasting live on the Westville campus leg of the event.
