Top Ranking for UKZN Honorary Professor
Professor Sushant Ghosh, an honorary professor in UKZN’s School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, has been ranked in the top 2% of cited researchers in the world.
Stanford University recognised Ghosh as one of the world’s top 2% of scientists, both for his career-long achievements and for 2023.
The recognition was based on a global list of scientists and assessed various factors, including citations, h-index, co-authorship adjustments, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator.
Ghosh is a professor at the Centre for Theoretical Physics, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, with years of experience in academics and research and has been an honorary professor at UKZN since 2012. His research interests lie in addressing key issues of black hole physics with a focus on theoretical and computational aspects. In particular, he has obtained novel results with respect to their properties including shadows, lensing, and thermodynamics.
‘Professor Ghosh has made fundamental contributions to our understanding of general relativity and its applications. He has also been instrumental in advancing the nature and quality of research in this area at UKZN,’ said Professor of Applied Mathematics at UKZN, Kesh Govinder.
‘This achievement would not have been possible without all my PhD scholars’ invaluable contributions and support,’ said Ghosh. Thank you, #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork!’
