Innovative Platform Launched to Connect Tech Enthusiasts and Students
A platform to connect tech enthusiasts and students from any university has been launched by a leading technology community at UKZN, providing members with access to a wide range of resources, including networking opportunities, educational content, and job postings, this platform was created by three students, Mr Nathan Pillay, Ms Nitasha Pillay, and Ms Orisha Kanaye, after they recognised the need for a society to equip students with the knowledge of tech. ‘We have an executive / sub-committee and a membership of 400 members,’ said Pillay, a co-founder of the Society.
With the rapid growth of the tech industry, the Tech Society recognised the need for a platform that would bring together like-minded individuals to share knowledge, insights, and ideas. The new platform will provide members with a unique opportunity to connect with peers, learn from industry experts, and stay up to date with the latest trends and developments in the tech world.
‘The Tech Society was established with the goal of empowering students in tech, recognising that many students are not familiar with the field,’ said Nathan. ‘Our aim is to prepare students for the modern work world, which is being increasingly digitised due in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. We believe that equipping young people with the skills and knowledge in tech is crucial for succeeding in this new environment.
‘At first it was a bit difficult trying to get out there but with a lot of prayer and guidance from mentors and important people we managed to make the Tech Society what it is today, he said.’
