House Committees as a structure fall under student governance. They are a sub-structure of the SRC and operate within residences. The distinguishing factor about this structure is Election as opposed to Selection. This is to say, House Committees are elected by their peers via the ballot while RAs are selected through the processes mentioned above. The process takes the following shape:

  • Opening of Nominations
  • Closing of Nominations
  • Publication of Preliminary list of candidates
  • Objections on the Preliminary list
  • Publication of final list of nominated candidates
  • Campaigns’/Manifesto
  • Elections day
  • Counting Process
  • Publication of Preliminary results
  • Objections
  • Publication of final election results
  • Constituting Portfolios
  • Publication of all house committee members

When all of the above have been met and adhered to, Training because mandatory. The RLC identifies suitable guests who are experts in their field for presentations to share their insight on issues of Leadership, Governance, Procurement procedures due to house committees having their own budget etc.
