Ms Nontuthuko Mbhele is the Chief Finance Officer of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, a role she has held since March 2017. She also serves as an independent non-executive director of Mercedes-Benz South Africa. Prior to joining UKZN she held various senior roles including being a director in charge of the Durban office of SekelaXabiso Consulting and being a partner and director at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ms Mbhele is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town. She matriculated at Pholela High School in Bulwer, KZN and was born in Pietermaritzburg.

Ms Normah Zondo has more than 15 years’ experience in Public Relations, Media Relations, Communications, Marketing, Events Management, Project Management, as well as extensive networks, both local and international. Her role at UKZN includes positioning the University locally and globally as a Premier University of African Scholarship, advancing institutional internationalisation, and providing high-level strategic support to the senior management team. She is also responsible for establishing, enhancing, and maintaining effective and mutually beneficial relationships with the University’s key stakeholders and its diverse publics through communication, marketing, and public relations activities that will promote UKZN’s reputation.
