The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music proudly presents The Solomon Willy band on Wednesday, 08 May 2013 at 18:00.

Born in the city of Warri in Nigeria, Solomon was first exposed to gospel music as a member of the children’s church choir. He later learnt to play the drums and the keyboard. While at school, he started to develop more interest in lead guitar. I began to study the basics of the lead guitar at a local music school in 1997 and over the years have improved in my musical skills with more practice and experience.

Solomon is a performing artist, composer, song writer and a music producer. He formed the Solomon Willy Jazz Band in 2009. They have vast experience as they usually play in corporates functions, Jazz festivals, and live music venues. The band offers an extensive mix of popular tasteful African jazz and contemporary hits.

One of the highlights of the band was taking part in the 2010 FIFA World Cup where there were over 25,000 soccer fans from all over the world.  Join us for The Solomon Willy Band at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music (CJPM), Level 2, Shepstone Building at UKZN Howard College Campus on Wednesday 08 May 2013 at 18:00.
