Topic: The challenges of reporting, investigating, and prosecuting of sexual abuse among people with disabilities in South Africa
Speaker: Lenneke Sicking
As previous literature revealed that people with disabilities are at risk for sexual abuse and have limited access to justice. Together with HEARD’s HIV and Disability Project, Lenneke Sicking set up a qualitative research to explore the challenges that people with disabilities, and investigating, and prosecuting authorities experience with regards to the reporting, investigation, and prosecution of sexual abuse among people with disabilities. The research results will be used to develop future interventions that address sexual abuse among people with disabilities and improve people with disabilities’ access to justice.
