THE CENTRE FOR JAZZ AND POPULAR MUSIC (UKZN) proudly presents Steve Newman and Greg Georgiades on Friday 02 March 2012 at 18h00.

Steve and Greg are known for their acoustic string instrument adventures in sonic story telling. They use a selection of custom made string instruments to transport the audience along spicy melodic trails of rhythmical delight.

Steve and Greg are both members of The Aquarian Quartet together with Tony Cox and the sadly recently late Syd Kitchen. They also have other projects together including the SAMA nominated trio with Ashish Joshi for their IN THE CLOUDS album which is released in the USA on High Horse Records. They also are members of the new enchanting JIKA NELANGA 8 piece group which is about to release their new TURN WITH THE SUN album featuring some stunning vocal work by Lu Dlamini and Zamo Mbutho.

Steve is well known for his work with SA supergroup TANANAS and collaborations with many top local and international musicians including Hilton Schilder, Errol Dyers in their ALL IN ONE project as well as with longtime pal Tony Cox in THE RETURN OF THE ROAD WARRIORS.

Greg Georgiades is also known for his much fertile collaboration in many varied music fields and styles including Miriam Makeba, Strings & Skins with Ashish Joshi, McCoy Mrubata in Vivid Afrika, Gordons Suitcase, Ernest Mothle and Madala Kunene.

The instrumentation provides further spice to the mix with Steve on soprano guitar, mbiratar, nylon acoustic guitar and Greg on oud, nylon acoustic guitar, bouzouki, ukelele and oudtar.
