On our special women’s week “Twosday” we have the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music presents urban songstress Skye Wanda on Tuesday 06 August 2013 at 18:00.

Skye Wanda is known as “The South African version of Lauren Hill meets Queen Latifah”. She composes relevant heart-felt lyrics that are inspired by love, social ills and happiness. She sees her music as an experimental journey through hip hop and jazz.

She started singing in church backing her gospel musician mom Nana Mhlongo. She also did backing vocals for Pastor Andile ka Majola, Sambulo Nkwanyana, and others.

Some of Skye Wanda’s highlights include performing at City Hall, Oppikoppi, The Playhouse, Splashy Fen, Capello’s, Zulu Jazz Lounge and Fashion TV.
