The CENTRE FOR JAZZ and POPULAR MUSIC (UKZN) presents a dynamic entertainer “Pinkie Mtshali” on Tuesday, 26 February 2013 AT 18:00.

 

Pinkie Mtshali hails from Umlazi, Durban. Pinkie is an all-rounder singer who started her career as an Opera Singer and later found a home in cabaret and Afro-Jazz/pop music.  She has performed and understudied major and minor roles for different shows working from Opera, Musicals, Pop shows and Cabarets with local and international Conductors, Directors and Singers throughout the country and abroad.

 

Some of Pinkie’s  career highlights include being nominated for a 1998 FNB Vita award for Best supporting actress in her role of Mrs Matshinga in ABBA MANIACS(directed by Aaron McIlroy), being a singer in the Prince of Dubai’s birthday party in the SEYCHELLES ISLANDS in December 2004. Currently, Pinkie currently works as a Music Director @ Emmanuel Cathedral.

 

In 2012, Pinkie recorded her EP “Now is the time”. This came after 24yrs of her being in the industry. The music has a sweet mix of cultural crossover repertoire. It is an Afro-Jazz album with influences of Maskandi and popular music

 

 

on Tuesday 26 February 2012 at 18:00.Pinkie Mtshali will be joined by Nathi Gumede (Keys), Robert Mkhize (Bass), Sibusiso Mthethwa (Rhythm guitar), Sibusiso Mkhize (Drums), and feature Delani Mbokazi on Saxophone and vocal for a memorable concert. Entry fee is R35 (Pensioners R20 and students R10).
