The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is proud to present well-known trumpeter Feya Faku on Friday 02 November 2012, at 18h00. 

This accomplished musician Fezile “Feya” Faku was born in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth. He studied music at University of Natal with Darius Brubeck and graduated with a Diploma in Jazz Studies. Feya lived in Durban for 14 years where his music career started to blossom.

Feya has performed and recorded with local musicians such as Barney Rachabane, Pat Matshikiza, Basel Coetzee, Winston ‘Mankunku’ Ngozi, Bheki Mseleku,  Abdullah Ibrahim and a great no. of international musicians. 

Feya has released four albums:

Hommage (1998); Tacit (2002); The Colours they Bring (2005) and Hope and Honour (2008)

Feya Faku – Trumpet/Flugel horn, will be joined by saxophone player, Nhlanhla Mahlangu, and the rhythm section is Nduduzo Makhathini (Piano), Thuto Motsemme ( Bass), Ayanda Sikade ( Drums). The Quintet will play favourites from his four albums, and new material.
