A two-day roadshow targeting all four Schools within the College of Health Sciences (CHS) was recently held in order to reassure attendees that staff had all the necessary support to uphold the College as a Centre of Excellence in health professional education, research and community programmes.

Organized by the College’s Human Resources team, the roadshow was held on all three of the five UKZN campuses which are home to the CHS Schools, and presentations were delivered by the College Professional Services Unit, Teaching and Learning Office as well as the Research Office.

Professor Fanie Botha, Director for College Professional Services, said he hoped staff members maintained the spirit of being ‘awesome’ from the College’s Power Lunches which were delivered by Mr Robin Banks, one of the world’s leading authorities on the subject of mind power and personal mastery, in 2012. He said it was important for the Schools to know how well suited the College Administrative Office was to providing the necessary support structures for its optimal functioning.

Botha reintroduced Ms Ranitha Ramdeyal, Manager for College Academic Services; Mrs Farhana Moodley, Manager for College Finance; Mrs Nadia Lasich, Manager for College Human Resources; Ms MaryAnn Francis, Manager for College Public Relations and Dr Saloschini Pillay, Manager for Student Support Services. Each manager unpacked how their portfolio was designed to support the Schools; highlighting the strong points and mentioning where there was room for improvement if staff members cooperated justly.

Academics staff said they found it eye-opening to listen to presentations delivered by Professor Fikile Mtshali, College Dean for Teaching and Learning and another by the newly appointed Dean of Research in the College, Professor Moses John Chimbari.
