Spatial Exploration of the Third Kingdom.

In my inaugural lecture I will discuss briefly the basic tools of mineral exploration, describe briefly my career pathways in the field of mineral exploration, and discuss briefly GIS-based mineral systems approach to exploration targeting. For the most part of my inaugural lecture, I will discuss a case study that demonstrates how spatial analytical techniques aid in understanding mineralization controls, which is important in mineral prospectivity mapping for the deposit-type sought. I will then describe briefly my contributions, using spatial analysis, to link mineral prospectivity mapping and quantitative assessment of undiscovered mineral resources, and to predict where undiscovered mineral deposits likely exist in predicted prospective areas.
